Being Mortal: Film and Discussion
Thursday, February 15 from 1:00 – 3:00pm
Join us for a screening and discussion of the film “Being Mortal,” a PBS Frontline episode that originally aired in 2015. The film follows surgeon Atul Gawande as he explores relationships between doctors and patients nearing the end of life. Dr. Richard Hansen, retired physician and former Medical College of Wisconsin faculty member, will be on hand to answer questions and lead a discussion after the film. This program is free. Application Deadline Extended for Library Director
The Waterford Public Library Board is seeking a dynamic, energetic and creative person with strong dedication to customer service to become our Library Director. We are looking for an innovative and enterprising individual to continue moving our library into the future. The Waterford Public Library is the cornerstone of a community of 6,000 residents, however the library supports a service population of over 22,000. Our Director should provide quality leadership, direct and support staff, work with Friends of the Library, collaborate with local organizations and agencies, and bring new ideas to support the library and its programs. Initiatives anticipated for 2018 include implementing an Automated Materials Handling system and developing a ‘mobile library’ to service our patrons during upcoming road construction.
Qualifications include: Master’s in Library Science (ALA accredited), ability to obtain Grade 1 Public Librarian Certification, as well as supervisory & managerial experience. Grant writing experience a plus. The starting salary is up to $58,000.
